RACE START REPLAY: Ricciardo takes the lead from polesitter Verstappen as Italian GP gets under way
One of the stars of qualifying and the Sprint was Daniel Ricciardo, who looked a man reborn as he sealed a third place finish in Saturday's 18-lap Sprint, which became second on the grid for the Italian Grand Prix itself once Valtteri Bottas took a grid penalty for changing his power unit.
And things got even better when the lights went out to start the race as the Australian got an incredible launch off the line to take the lead from polesitter Max Verstappen into the first chicane.
Behind him, Lewis Hamilton – who started fourth – managed to muscle his way ahead of third-place starter Lando Norris in the second McLaren, and almost got past Verstappen as well, before being squeezed at the second chicane and having to back out of the move.
See how the start at Monza played out in the video above, and follow all the action from the race in our live blog here.
