WATCH: Hamilton’s record-breaking pole lap at Spa for the Belgian Grand Prix
Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton broke the track record not once but twice in qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix, eventually establishing a new record of 1m 41.252s with a breath-taking effort around the iconic 7.004km Spa-Francorchamps.
It was a lap that even Hamilton couldn’t help but describe as “incredible”, his Mercedes W11 looking fabulously hooked up through the sinuous middle sector of the circuit – and with the six-time champion dedicating the pole position to Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, who’d lost his battle with cancer the night before.
