Hamilton and Mercedes officially crowned world champions for 2019

Lewis Hamilton has lifted the famous FIA Formula 1 World Championship Drivers’ trophy for the sixth time in his career, appearing at the 2019 FIA Prize-Giving in Paris to receive his silverware after a dominant season from the Briton.

Hamilton won over half of the 21 races in 2019, taking victory at 11 Grands Prix, and adding seventh wins at Montreal and Hungary to his list of achievements in the process.

The other award winners

There was double success for Red Bull as Max Verstappen won in the Action of the Year category for his tussle with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc at Silverstone.

Alex Albon, meanwhile, scooped Rookie Of The Year honours.

The late Niki Lauda was also honoured, with the three-time world champion named Personality of the Year at the FIA Awards.
