Ricciardo to drive Red Bull F1 car at the famous Nordschleife circuit
Daniel Ricciardo has secured another outing in a Red Bull F1 car, with the Australian set to tackle the Nordschleife during showrun activities at the 12h Nurburgring event in September.
Ricciardo opted to take a year out of racing in 2023 after parting ways with McLaren at the end of last season, instead returning to former team Red Bull and moving into a third driver role.
Alongside marketing duties, work in the simulator and appearances in the paddock, Ricciardo has been promised real-life track time by Red Bull team boss Christian Horner as the year develops.
While details of any tests are yet to be revealed, September 9 is in Ricciardo’s diary as he prepares to take an F1 car around the 20.832km Nordschleife track for the ‘Red Bull Formula Nurburgring’ show as part of the 12-hour race weekend.
It is not the first time a modern F1 car has been driven at the Nordschleife, which hosted races across the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s. Michael Schumacher put on a demo run in a Mercedes ahead of the 24-hour event in 2013 and Nick Heidfeld showcased his BMW Sauber back in 2007.

Ricciardo’s run will follow on from his special road trip aboard the double title-winning RB7 in the build-up to this year’s Australian Grand Prix, which took in beaches, bridges and the outback.
