Lewis Hamilton sealed a stunning victory in Sunday's Sao Paulo Grand Prix after racing up the order from his P10 starting slot, and then passing leader Max Verstappen on Lap 59 of the 71 lap race.
But Hamilton had also tried to pass his championship rival 11 laps earlier, only for both cars to run wide at Turn 4, as the Red Bull maintained the lead.
The stewards noted the incident but decided not to investigate further, but unsurprisingly the Mercedes and Red Bull team bosses disagreed about the incident. Silver Arrows chief Toto Wolff said Verstappen's defence was "over the line", while his Red Bull counterpart Christian Horner said any penalty for his driver would have been "unfair".
