Driver of the Day 2016

Introduced in 2016, the Driver of the Day award is voted for by fans during each Grand Prix and announced at the end of the race.

Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari - 2016 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

The four-time champion called on all his skill to overcome the Red Bulls and follow the two Mercedes home at Yas Marina for his first podium since Monza.

Max Verstappen, Red Bull - Formula 1 Grande Premio do Brasil 2016

An amazing display of wet-weather skill saw the Dutchman climb from 14th to third in the closing stages of the Sao Paulo race - and secure your vote for the eighth time this season.

Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari - Formula 1 Gran Premio de Mexico 2016

He may have lost his podium place in the end, but the German's determined (and rather spiky) drive from seventh on the grid was enough to earn him Driver of the Day honours for the second time this year.

Max Verstappen, Red Bull - 2016 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix

A transmission failure may have halted his progress midway through the Austin race, but his charging drive up until that point was enough to earn him your nod for the third round in a row.

Max Verstappen, Red Bull - 2016 Formula 1 Emirates Japanese Grand Prix

A thrilling finale to the Suzuka race saw Verstappen withstand immense pressure from Lewis Hamilton to hold on and finish second to split the two Mercedes.

Max Verstappen, Red Bull - 2016 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix

He may not have won his battle for position with race-winning team mate Daniel Ricciardo, but Verstappen pushed the Australian all the way at Sepang to score his fifth F1 podium.

Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari - 2016 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix

After a suspension problem in qualifying put him on the back row of the grid, Vettel knew he faced a tough race. But the German rose to the occasion, storming through the field to finish fifth.

Nico Rosberg, Mercedes - Formula 1 Gran Premio Heineken d'Italia 2016

Once he had beaten his slow-starting team mate into the first turn at Monza, there was no looking back for Rosberg, who owned the race and came home a full 15 seconds clear of the chasing pack.

Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes - 2016 Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix

He started 21st on the grid and came through to finish on the podium. Yes, a race stoppage played into his hands, but with a result like that it's no surprise that Hamilton deservedly got your vote for the Spa round.

Daniel Ricciardo, Red Bull - Formula 1 Grosser Preis von Deutschland 2016

The 'honey badger' celebrated his 100th Grand Prix start in style, securing second for Red Bull and then launching into a rather unusual celebration atop the Hockenheim podium.

Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari - Formula 1 Magyar Nagydij 2016

He may have ultimately failed to find a way past Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in their intense battle for fifth place, but it wasn’t for lack of effort from the flying Finn.

Max Verstappen, Red Bull - 2016 Formula 1 British Grand Prix

It's back-to-back Driver of the Day wins for the Dutch teenager after he pushes Mercedes' Nico Rosberg all the way in their battle for second place at Silverstone, giving him his second podium in as many races.

Max Verstappen, Red Bull - Formula 1 Grosser Preis von Osterreich 2016

Another storming drive saw Verstappen come from eighth on the grid to finish second, fending off the close attention of Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen in the dying laps to secure his second career podium.

Sergio Perez, Force India - 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe

Despite a gearbox penalty demoting him from the front row of the grid, Perez kept his cool on the all new Baku City Circuit to slice his way through the pack and go from seventh to third.

Max Verstappen, Red Bull - Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada 2016

He may have finished 'only' fourth, but Verstappen did a stellar job in Montreal, dominating team mate Daniel Ricciardo and holding off - in some style - the hard-charging Mercedes of Nico Rosberg.

Sergio Perez, Force India - Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco 2016

Starting from seventh on the grid, Perez put in a superlative performance on Monte Carlo's streets, brilliantly keeping Sebastian Vettel's Ferrari at bay to capture a sixth career podium finish.

Max Verstappen, Red Bull - Formula 1 Gran Premio de Espana Pirelli 2016

In his maiden race for Red Bull, 18-year-old Max Verstappen drove faultlessly to hold off Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen and become the youngest driver - and first Dutchman - in history to claim an F1 victory.

Kevin Magnussen, Renault - 2016 Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix

The Sochi race saw Kevin Magnussen score the first points of his 2016 F1 return - and the first for Renault under their new works status. A gutsy drive took the Dane from 17th on the grid to seventh at the flag.

Daniil Kvyat, Red Bull Racing - 2016 Formula 1 Pirelli Chinese Grand Prix

Starting sixth on the grid, Kvyat fought back from a controversial lap-one clash with Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel to finish on the podium for only the second time in his burgeoning F1 career.

Romain Grosjean, Haas - 2016 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix

As if to prove his and Haas's sixth place in Melbourne was no fluke, Grosjean went one better in Sakhir with a battling drive to fifth place for the new American team.

Romain Grosjean, Haas - 2016 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix

Fairytales don't come much better than this - established driver gambles on moving to an all-new team and then scores for them in their very first Grand Prix.
